Topshop Lip Perfectors | Review

Topshop beauty launched 5 years ago and I was always a bit hesitant to dip my toe in as I often don't like it when fashion brands dip their toe into beauty. It's just a beauty snob thing I have going on, many people are like it too. In addition to this, any of my local topshops over the last 5 years have not had a fantastic selection of the range making purchasing a little less appealing. However, I have noticed more and more beauty bloggers and YouTubers raving about the range so I decided to try the Topshop Lip Perfectors. I also think its worth mentioning that lip products are the one product I really don't enjoy trying out because I struggle to find colours that look really nice on me. So if this review is positive, you can know that these products did really well...

The Lip Perfectors come in 4 different shades; 'Flattery', 'Fancy', 'Maraschino' and 'Ambition' and all retail for £6. They are obviously available from Topshop stores and online, but I also found them on feelunique.com which is great if you want to make a bulk order of many different brands. I picked up the shades 'Fancy' and 'Ambition'. 'Fancy' is a light pink shade with a touch of peach. What I really like about this shade is that it is not baby pink (ugh, how I loathe baby pink shades on me) but instead it is a nice grown-up pink. However, 'Ambition' is definitely my favourite. It's a really flattering nude with a hint of brown to it and I am making it my mission to get thoroughly stuck into nude shades for my lips and I use this product almost daily. Now I have introduced the shades I bought, let's get into the nitty gritty of the review...

Packaging: I absolutely love the packaging. The plastic squeeze tubes feel nice and good quality, the silver lids feel very strong and sturdy and do not scratch easily. Overall, very chic and sophisticated packaging and bloody good for £6.

Colour pay-off: Though these products are sheer, they do still add a nice colour to my lips and they are a great natural addition to a more intense eye or even to finish off a more natural look. I do also think they would work nicely over the top of a lipstick (possibly one with a matte finish) to add some gloss and light to the lips, particularly in the centre.

Bare lips

'Ambition'

'Fancy'

Formula: Really comfortable. Sometimes lip glosses can be super sticky and I hate that feeling on my lips day to day. They blend nicely onto the lips without the colour settling into any fine lines or looking patchy. They do hydrate and nourish my lips but I wouldn't use them as a sole aid to dry lips. You will however need to reapply after eating though but thats about as far as the negatives go... and is it really that much of a negative comment? I don't think so.

So I think we can all agree that I am a huge fan of the Lip Perfectors from Topshop. I'm not usually a red lip wearer but I may give 'Maraschino' a whirl this Christmas season to add a hint of red to my lips.

Let me know what you think of these products, or any other products you have tried from the Topshop beauty range!

I hope you enjoyed this review and found it useful!

Freedom Pro Conceal & Correct Palette | Review

In my last post, I spoke about a new video I had filmed where I tried out 3 products from highstreet brands Revlon and Freedom Make-Up, including the Pro Conceal & Correct Palette from the latter. Though I filmed my first impressions and how it wore throughout my shift that evening, I thought it would be useful as well to write a much more in-depth review of the palette for you.

So, lets talk about the brand itself. Freedom Make-Up London is a new make-up collection that launched in June this year, developed by Adam Minto (the same man who brought us Make-Up Revolution). From what I have read about Freedom, it is designed to bring professional products to the every day beauty lover at a more affordable price. This is evident when perusing their website as many of the products are labelled 'professional' or at least feature many types of products that higher end professional make-up brands do. This includes priming waters (as seen from Smashbox), glow tonics (as seen from Pixi) and sprays for spot brush cleaning (as seen from MAC and Clinique). The other pro tell-tale sign is the vast array of palettes and kits. Freedom Make-Up offer a range of brow, sculpting, highlight, strobing and eyeshadow palettes that you would often find professional make-up artists to have in their kits to provide for the many different skin tones they have to work on.

Now for someone like myself who isn't a professional make-up artist but has these seemingly professional products on offer, why wouldn't I want a piece of that? Not to mention the great prices! Concealer is an important step in my routine as I have redness and hyper pigmentation from active blemishes as well as those from when I was younger. So when I saw the Pro Conceal & Correct Palette for only £5, I had to give it a go and see if that £5 would be enough to help achieve a more flawless complexion.

So what do I think of the palette?

Packaging: I like the monochrome packaging but it is on the cheap side. I do wish it was completely black and had a mirror in the lid, as I think that would look much more pleasing than seeing all 6 colours on display (which isn't a huge deal breaker but I'd sacrifice it for a mirror). However, it does the job in keeping the actual product away from any dust laying around.

Colour selection: I really like the 6 colour variety. There are 4 concealer colours and 2 correctors; a green for redness and a salmon pink for blueness. I think the correctors did a great job at counteracting the redness around my nose and on my spots and the blueness on the inner corner of my eyes. I do really like the 4 concealers as well. I think they are very versatile and I will find a use for them all either when I am sporting fake tan, or when I'm as pale as a sheet.

Formula: I wouldn't say the products in the palette sat nicely on my skin. There was definitely an issue of them sticking to the dry areas around my nose and highlighting that issue. This is odd because the product itself feels quite creamy. However, that is an issue I have with many face products so I can't blame the palette solely of this offence. Nevertheless, it was patchy which does make me hesitant to use it in that area in the future. On my chin, it blended in slightly better though it did highlight my enlarged pores ever so slightly. I'm hesitant to put it on the area of skin in between my brows because I have very large pores there and I don't need any assistance in making those any more noticeable. Pigmentation with this palette is however, very good. As you will have seen from my first impressions video, the salmon shade really brightened up my inner corners which is fantastic. The green corrector was also great at counteracting the redness around my nose and on my blemishes. I also didn't notice any oxidisation from any of the colours which is great as this is a big beauty no-no for me.

If I were to rate this product out of 10, I'd give it a solid 7. It is good value for money when you think about how much product you get but with many things, it may not be for everyone. I wouldn't recommend it you have very dry skin (or even those with combination like myself) as it could really stick and show up the dry parts of your skin. However, they do have testers in store so it wouldn't hurt to test a bit out and see what you think throughout the day. Though for £5 can you really go wrong? I am definitely going to try out more from the brand, as well as its sister company Make-Up Revolution.

The Pro Conceal and Correct Palette is available from www.superdrug.com or in store for £5. You can also buy it from the brands website too: www.freedommakeuplondon.com

I hope you enjoyed reading this more in-depth review of the palette. Let me know what you think of this brand and any of the other products you have tried from them.

Lash Game Strong.

Big, fluttery lashes are my ride or die when it comes to my make-up look. I have quite big eyes but very blonde lashes that look almost completely invisible when I'm completely free of make-up. So naturally, I rely on eye products to pack and punch and bring some much needed life to my face.

Over the last few weeks I have been using only one mascara and it was a completely chance purchase. I usually do a lot of research before I buy any make-up but with the Maybelline Lash Sensational, I just saw, bought and hoped for the best! (Later on when I was reading reviews on it, I soon found out that a lot of other people enjoyed it too.) I really was not disappointed. This mascara gives me so much length and volume whilst defining my lashes too. The formula is build-able too providing the first coat is still wet/tacky. Once it is dry, it's not going anywhere and it can feel like you're tugging on your lashes when you apply more.

When it comes to false lashes, I usually reserve them for nights out or special occasions. However sometimes my natural lashes can be a little lack lustre, especially when they shed. Side note: only learned a few months ago that lashes shed and re-grow (?!) I don't really know what I thought they did but there ya go! I was pretty excited to try out the Eylure lash range by Fleur De Force. She happens to be my all-time favourite YouTuber and blogger and I've watched her videos now from the very beginning I think. I wanted to try her very favourites from her range and I must say, I really like them. The 'Fleur Loves' lashes are a 3/4 length which in most cases are the perfect length and the very tips are stone-ground tapered for an even more natural finish. (I recall Fleur mentioning that this is a new feature for Eylure lashes and might have its own patent? Don't quote me but I'm sure of it!)

When it comes to putting these beauties on, they are a dream. I've had them for a week now and I reckon I have worn them about 5 or 6 times. In the image, the lashes are after I've worn them so you can really see how well the shape holds up. I do like to remove the old glue before I re-apply, making sure to hold the lashes between my fingers to not disrupt the shape as I pull. Overall, I'm very impressed with these and I may have asked for the rest of the range for Christmas from my boyfriend ;)

Have you tried either of these products? Let me know what you think or you have tried other products that you absolutely love!
