My Pamper Night Essentials!

Everyone loves a pamper night once in a while. I always make sure to have at least 1 a week where I completely relax and indulge in some 'me time'. A pamper night is the best way to unwind and feel good about yourself after a long week at work or even a long day of studying!

Here are the products I use when I have a pamper night:

(L-R: Boots Extracts Coconut Body Butter, B. Pure Micellar Water, Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Facial Scrub, Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash, Bic Soleil Lady Gel in Aloe Vera & Vitamin E and just a standard razor!)

I use all these products usually on a mid-week pamper session because I usually don't have time to go all out and spend a long time pampering myself. Maybe I'll do a post in the future on my 'all out pamper evening'? We'll see.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know of the products you use when you're pampering yourself!

Nails of the Week!

Hello again! I am back with another NOTW (Nail of the Week) post for you today. I have combined one of my all time favourite nail polishes with another which I don't use as much anymore, I guess I just forgot about it. Nevertheless, I paired them together to make a really cool sparkly ombre tip!

I used Barry M's Berry Ice Cream and Silver Glitter with a Rimmel top coat over the top.

What do you think of this nail look? Let me know!

Face of the Day: Summer Cat Eye!

For today's 'Face of the Day' I am venturing into the great outdoors! Well, the back garden! British weather as many people know is incredibly temperamental and a summer here is a little lack lustre. However, I noticed a little bit of sun and dashed out to the garden to photograph this make-up look. I haven't done a cat eye for a while so I thought I'd channel my inner Lana Del Rey and create a vintage inspired winged look.

Products used:

Face:
Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in Ivory
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 2 Light
Colour Unlimited Bronzer and Blusher palette
Stay Matte powder in 001 Transparent

Eyes:
Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo in 10 Deco Dence
Bourjois Liner Clubbing Ultra Black Ultra Resistance eyeliner
Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Black Drama in Black

Lips:
L'Oreal Glam Shine 6 Hour Gloss Brilliance lipgloss in 105 Hold On Rose

And there you have it! What do you think of this look?

YouTube: New Video!

Hello everyone :)

Just a little note to say that I uploaded a new video onto my collaboration channel with my friend, Dan. As we have finished university for the summer, we are no longer together all of the time to film. So we created a challenge series where we will set each other challenges and have to film our response. Dan set me the Cinnamon Challenge and I posted my response on Tuesday. To anyone considering the Cinnamon Challenge, don't. It's awful. Your throat burns for the whole day. Just horrible.

Anyway, here is my response. Go and have a look and laugh at my expense, I don't mind really. If you're on YouTube, go and subscribe and comment :)

Face of the Day (Celebrity Edition): Scarlett Johansson

Hello there! I'm back today with another Face of the Day post for you all. Now instead of making my own make-up look, I've chosen one of my favourite make-up looks on one of my favourite celebrities. I've loved Scarlett Johansson over the years. She just oozes femininity and sex-appeal but can still pull off the cute girl-next-door look. I watched Avengers Assemble the other week with my friends and oh my good god! Isn't she just amazing? Honestly, her and Robert Downey Jr. are like my ultimate dream team. My OTP for all you Tumblr fiends out there ;)

I love the make-up that she wore with the dress, it really brings vibrance to the whole look. Here is Scarlett's make-up and my attempt to achieve it:

(Note: The image of Scarlett Johansson was found on Google images.)

I kept the face very simple with a foundation that matched my skin tone and a light dab of bronzer around my face and to contour. I used a little bit of a darker blush (as opposed to my usual bright pink) to keep it natural. The eyes are the main focus in this look, so I kept the face and lips as natural as possible.

Close up of the lips... Not great quality :(

My little work station... please excuse the washing in the background!

Here is the list of the products that I used to create this look:

Face:
Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in 200 Soft Beige
Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in 020 True Ivory
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in 2 Light
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Benefit 10 Highlighter
The Body Shop blush in Nutmeg
Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in 001 Transparent

Eyes:
Even Smoother eye base by Barbara Daly for Tesco
Sleek palette in The Original 594 (I used the shimmery brown shade as a base, with the coppery shade all over the eyelid and blended around the edges. The black shade along the lash line VERY lightly and the gold shimmery shade in the inner corner of the eye.)
Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Black Drama in Black

Lips:
Avon lipstick in 'Pout' (a light dabbing over the lips)
L'Oreal Glam Shine 6 Hour Gloss Brilliance lipgloss in 105 Hold On Rose

What do you think of this make-up look?

Review: Shocking Coral Lipstick

I bought this lipstick from the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids range quite a few weeks ago as I really loved the colour. I'm trying to branch out into coloured lips rather than sticking to pale pinks and nudes. I was never sure if this shade would suit me, so I swatched it A LOT before I bought it to make sure it was for me. I've worn it out a lot and I love it so much! It's just a gorgeous colour for spring/summer and can liven up any natural make-up look.

Here are some photos of the packaging and the product itself:

I really love the packaging of this product. It feels very sturdy and compact. I love the bright transparent lid. It definitely looks like it's worth more than the price.

This lipstick is very moisturising on the lips which is a plus for me as I tend to suffer from dry, chapped lips. The colour pay-off is incredible and is also very buildable. You could whack it all over your lips to achieve the look in the picture or simply dab and smooth on your lips for a lighter tint to the lips. It has a satin finish which I really love because it's not too matte that it drys your lips but not too shiny that it doesn't, for me anyway, make my lips look smaller than they are. It also smells incredible! I'm a total sucker for great smelling lip products.

Overall, I absolutely adore this lipstick and will be wearing it a lot throughout the summer. You can buy this lipstick in this colour and a variety of other colours from Boots or Superdrug for £7.19

Have you tried this lipstick or any others from the Color Sensational Vivids range?

Yummy Healthy Dinner!

I posted a few weeks ago saying how I needed to start eating more healthily as being at university and having my meals provided for me in the on campus canteen. Also, going out drinking with my friends more frequently than usually had really taken a toll on my body and skin. So as I am staying with a friend, I have been buying all of my own food and cooking my dinners every night. I naturally love fruit and vegetables so being healthy isn't really difficult for me, I just run out of healthy ideas but I have a few things I want to try and I'll document them on here as part of a healthy food series.

So the other night, I cooked lamb with baby new potatoes and some salad. Here are some photos of the prep work and cooking:

And here is the final result! This was so yummy and I didn't feel so full afterwards that I felt guilty! I also had a good mix of vegetables and protein. Oh and a cheeky glass of milk to make sure I get my calcium! ;)

Let me know in the comments what kind of healthy food dishes you cook for yourself and I'll keep you updated of every new, healthy meal I cook!

Body Love: Lady Gaga

I have always loved Lady Gaga right from the beginning when she strutted into that house party with her stick-on lightning bolt across her eye in her 'Just Dance' music video. I love her style, her attitude and most of the time her fashion. I guess you could call me 'a little Monster.'

Her last album, 'Born This Way' was released on May 23, 2011 which was coincidentally my 18th birthday! I love the songs on the album and all of the fashion in her subsequent music videos. Lady Gaga has always been of a slim build (much to my envy) and a few months ago she was criticised by the media and spectators for gaining extra weight and some even branding her 'fat'. Now this angered me a lot, not because I'm a fan of hers but because I think it's quite frankly disgusting how the media and ordinary people can call an individual whose life is under the spotlight constantly 'fat' or 'ugly' or some other very hurtful name. I feel like those words are thrown around so much in conversation that people don't realise that those words are still hurtful.

However, recent photos have been published of Lady Gaga looking slimmer and she has reportedly lost around 30lbs and she looks amazing! I never thought she needed to lose weight but I guess when you're Lady Gaga, all of the touring and pressure means you lose weight without probably even noticing. I was browsing Daily Mail Online and she does look incredible. I love the chic and sexy-ness of the black dress she is wearing with her long platinum blonde locks, finished off with huge sunglasses. So classic but still so Lady Gaga.

Take a look (all of these photos are from Daily Mail Online and are probably sourced to an individual photographer and I do not claim to own them):

Black magic: The star looked amazing in a black pencil dress as she did some retail therapy in East HamptonDouble the fun: Lady Gaga walked into a shop in one outfit and stepped out in another on Wednesday

What do you think of Lady Gaga's new body? Do you dislike as much as I do the constant media hounding celebrities receive about their appearance?

Motivational Monday!

Happy Monday everyone!

I am an absolute Tumblr fiend, I am obsessed with the thing! My favourite things to re-blog are inspirational or happy picture quotes about life, happiness, love etc. To kick start your week, I have included my one of my favourite inspirational quotes from Tumblr to share with you all.

I love this. It speaks to me on so many levels about just moving on and focusing on the happy and more worthwhile things in my life. I think it's very important for us all to appreciate the good but also appreciate the bad but move on from them and make way for things that make us happy, which we'll inevitably appreciate even more!

Have a wonderful week and keep your blog eyes peeled tomorrow for another post!

Nails of the Week: Screen Siren

A little fact that you might not have known about me is that I love nail varnish! I love having bright nails in the Spring and Summer and darker, more vampy colours in the Autumn and Winter. However, because I'm a summer baby and love everything to do with summer, I naturally prefer bright colours on my nails!

I was shopping yesterday in New Look and the Kelly Brook nail varnish range near the till caught my eye. A particularly bright pink screamed at me and I wanted to try it out to see if it were a) good quality and a nice colour and b) whether it was worth the £2.99.

I have known about the Kelly Brook nail varnish line for a while now and thought I'd give it a whirl and here are the results:

It's a gorgeous bright pink that's almost neon and almost coral that's collided together to make this shade. In the pictures, it doesn't show up just how bright/neon it really is. However, it is quite sheer so it required about 2-3 coats to get a completely opaque finish but it didn't dry shiny, so you would need a top coat to give it that shine. I love the packaging and think it's great for the price you pay. I love the gorgeousness of the bright pink with the black and white polka-dot design on the top and the Kelly Brook signature. Very chic and very good value for money.

This is a great nail varnish for summer and would be great to work with a bright pink statement necklace or earrings with a plain outfit- just to inject some colour!

You can buy Screen Siren by Kelly Brook and lots of other lovely colours in New Look stores and online for £2.99

Thank you for reading this and let me know in the comments if you have ever tried Kelly Brook's for New Look nail varnish line!

Face of the Day: Neutral Natural

As I was unable to post a video on my YouTube on Thursday (technical difficulties hinder us all), I thought I'd post one of these 'Face of the Day' blogs so you can see what make-up look I am wearing. Today I'm going to a viewing then to town with my friend so I just went with my everyday make-up look which is neutral eyes and nude/pink lips. This look is so easy for me to wear but still looks like I've made an effort.

Here is the finished look:

And here are the products I used:

I prepped my skin with the Neutrogena oil-free grapefruit moisturiser. I am testing this product out and so far I do like it. However, I am wondering whether because it is oil free that it doesn't moisturise the dry patches around my nose. Anyway, I love the smell of this product. It's grapefruit so it smells really zingy and fresh and I love that fresh feeling on my skin.

On my skin I am wearing Revlon's Colour Stay foundation in 'Buff'. This is the 'Oily/Combination' skin formula and I really do like this product. It's extremely build-able meaning you can achieve both a natural look with some blemishes showing through or a completely flawless look. The only thing about this foundation is that it can be difficult to apply as with me I have found, the product sticks to dry patches around my nose and generally doesn't blend very well on my nose. It is available in Boots and Superdrug in the UK (also international I believe, but I don't know the stockists) for around £12.99.

For blemishes and under my eyes I used the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' concealer in 'True Ivory'. This product is great for blending as it has a thin/silky texture. I wouldn't say it's great for coverage under the eyes, especially if you have dark circles or extremely obvious blue tones under them. Something like a MAC studio fix concealer or a Bobbi Brown colour corrector would be more suited for this. Overall, it is a really nice product.

To contour my face, I used Benefit's 'Hoola' bronzer. I love this product! It's a great all over bronzer because it doesn't have any shimmer so you don't have to worry about looking like a disco ball when you're wearing it. Also, because of the absence of shimmer, it doesn't amplify any blemishes you have on your skin. I've hit pan on this product (all I have left is the in the corners- Boo!) and I will most likely re-purchase it.

For blush I used the MUA blusher in 'Shade 2'. This product is a bargain at £1 (!!!) and it's incredibly pigmented. It's a gorgeous pink- in between a bright pink and a baby pink with a little bit of shimmer running through it. I like to use this with a natural eye and lip combo just because it injects a little bit of colour to my face.

On my eyes, I used about 4 different colours from the MUA 'Undressed' palette. This product is basically a dupe for the Urban Decay 'Naked' palette for about a quarter of the price at £4. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and just lovely. I used the lightest shade in my inner corner to brighten up my eyes, then I mixed the lightest matte shade with the second lightest shimmery shade and put this all over the lid. I then used the darkest shimmery shade as a liner on my top and bottom lash line. I didn't want to use a heavy black eyeliner as I was going as natural as possible. One downside to this palette is that you experience quite a bit of fall out. but simply wipe this away with your foundation brush.

I used the Maybelline Falsies mascara in black for my lashes. I love this mascara so much. It is honestly the best drugstore mascara I have used. It lengthens my lashes and thickens them without making them too clumpy. I think it retails for about £6.99 in Boots and Superdrug (again- I don't know about internationally). I will always re-purchase this product. It's that good.

For my brows I just used the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown, I think? The colour has worn off the label. But I really like this, it's just generally a good product.

On my lips I am wearing Avon's lipstick in Pout. This is a gorgeous nude pink lip which has featured on this blog before! I really like it for neutral looks.

Finally to set my skin, I use the Rimmel 'Stay Matte' Powder in 'Transparent'. I like to keep powders transparent because I don't like to put extra colour on top of my foundation, concealer, bronzer and blusher. I simply pat this on my skin and with regular touch-ups throughout the day, I don't get shiny! I think this retails for about £3.99 in Boots and Superdrug- bargain!

So there you have it! Let me know what you think of this look and whether you have tried any of these products and what you think of them!

Thank you for reading and I'll see you in the next blog!
